It's not uncommon for celebrities to lose weight for movie roles, but they also tend to shed pounds for a more stressful reason -- divorce.

Tom Cruise
Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes called it quits</a> in June 2012 after five years of marriage. Their <a href="http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/tom-cruise-katie-holmes-divorce-final-364463" target="_hplink">divorce was finalized</a> in record time -- less than two months after they announced their split. Since they parted ways, Cruise has reportedly dropped 15 pounds <a href="http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-2201211/Tom-Cruise-drops-weight-strain-divorce-Katie-Holmes.html" target="_hplink">(photos here)</a>. As an unnamed source <a href="http://www.radaronline.com/exclusives/2012/08/tom-cruise-split-katie-holmes-work-slow-down" target="_hplink">told gossip mag Grazia </a> in August, "his way of dealing with this is to throw himself into his work, but as a result he's not looking after himself, and he risks cutting himself off from people who care about him and want to make sure he's OK."
LeAnn Rimes
LeAnn Rimes and Dean Sheremet, her husband of nearly eight years, <a href="http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20293707,00.html" target="_hplink">separated in 2009</a> amid <a href="http://articles.nydailynews.com/2009-07-25/gossip/17927666_1_leann-rimes-dean-sheremet-marriage" target="_hplink"> reports that Rimes was having an affair</a> with her Lifetime movie co-star (and now-husband) Eddie Cibrian. The singer opened up about her weight loss in October of that year, <a href="http://news.yahoo.com/leann-rimes-accepts-tabloid-fascination-now-132510848.html" target="_hplink">telling the Associated Press</a>, "You know, I went through all I've gone through in the last few years and I was going through a divorce and I couldn't get out of bed, and so I gained 10 pounds and then I lost 10 pounds because now I'm moving around and I'm working and you know, I don't stop and no one sees that [weight loss] actually can happen like naturally. It's a natural progression of life."
Jennie Garth
Jennie Garth and Peter Facinelli <a href="http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20578138,00.html" target="_hplink">parted ways in March 2012</a> after 11 years of marriage.
